Passport Photo Size for Saudi Arabia: 40 x 60 mm, White Background
Preparing a photo for a Saudi passport, a residence document or an online form? A wrong size or a shadowed background is the easiest way to lose time. This page gives the size, pixels and background rule for a Saudi Arabia passport photo and shows how to make one free.
Saudi Arabia passport photo size at a glance
The commonly published size for a Saudi Arabia passport photo is 40 x 60 mm (4 x 6 cm) with a plain white background. At 300 DPI this equals about 472 x 709 pixels.
Rules are updated from time to time and can differ between a passport, an iqama or another service. Confirm with the General Directorate of Passports, the Absher service or your nearest Saudi embassy before you print or upload. Our passport photo size guide compares Saudi Arabia with other countries.
Background colour
Use a plain white background that is evenly lit, with no shadows, patterns or objects behind you. A creased sheet or a grey wall will show up in the final photo. Read our background colour rules for more.
Head position and expression
Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression, mouth closed and both eyes open. Keep your head level and your shoulders square. The face must be fully visible from chin to forehead. Head coverings are common, and the key rule is a clear, uncovered face, as explained in our guide to glasses and head coverings.
How to take the photo at home
Stand about 60 cm from a plain light wall and face a window in daylight. Ask a helper to hold the phone at eye level from about 1.2 to 1.5 metres away, or use the timer. Take at least ten shots and choose the sharpest one. The steps are in how to take a passport photo at home. Skip filters and avoid chat-app copies, which lose detail.
